Diamondback Jr Viper BMX Bike (20-Inch Wheels)

Got this bike for my 7 year old who has outgrown his first bike, a 16-incher. The main problem I had with most 20-inch BMX bikes I've seen (I was hoping to find one under $100) at Target/Walmart/ToysRUs stores is the brakes -- very few models offer coaster (i.e., "the reverse pedal") brakes, and the hand brakes either don't fit my little man's hands or they were so stiff (cheap calipers) that there's no way a kid would be able to stop the bikes.

This bike was "just right" for my little man -- it is a "short" 20-inch bike -- the top bar and the seat are designed extra low for shorter legs. The wheel base is the same as your typical BMX, so my kid should be able to enjoy riding for several more years on this before he moves on to larger frames. The bike is set up with a rear coaster brake so that Junior can stop with his legs (and also do those cool skid-stops), and it has a smooth, higher quality linear-pull hand brake (also rear wheel) that is easy for growing hands.

Some assembly is required out of the box -- You'll need to install the front wheel, attach handbars, attach pedals & seatpost, and adjust the brakes. Gears, crankcase, and the rear wheel all come pre-assembled.
